Goals and Inspiration

My beautiful daughter Isabelle is my main inspiration for going for my dreams and doing what I love. I want to raise her and show her that it is good to open new doors, even though you might not know what is on the other side. And even if this business doesn't work out, at least I know I tried. I want to show her to do what she loves, no matter what it is.

Since I have decided to really dive into this photography thing I have been doing TONS of research. My husband probably thinks I am addicted to my computer (if he didn't already). I have been trying to limit my research time to car rides (via my phone when I am not driving of course :)), when Isabelle is napping, or when she is at the barn while her dad milks cows. I spend enough time away from her at work...I don't want to waste the small amount of time I have. Although she is here with me now while her dad is away but she is watching the Lion King (for the 3rd time today) and probably wouldn't even realize if I left!

Although I am not formally trained, I like to think that I catch on quickly, and believe me I have found that there is a LOT to learn. There are so many amazing places online to learn...that along with going out and just snapping away and then playing with the post processing. I do hope to get a desktop computer with a larger screen one day (I love my Macbook, but an iMac would make my heart sing!)

I have been on YouTube, Facebook, Google, and various photography blogs and tutorial sites. I have seen so many inspirational images and amazing artists work. I hope one day someone just starting out will come across my blog/Facebook/website and be inspired.

I have make a sort of "bucket list" or goals for myself this first year or so that I am going to try this.
1. I would love to get at least one of every type of shoot (newborn, child, senior, wedding, engagement, trash the dress, family, etc) I know I am a little new to the area I live in, but I am hoping Facebook and word of mouth will help me!
2. I have started gathering the alphabet in organic ways (anything but printed letters)...which I hope to finish at some point. I had a sign growing up with my name spelled in these type of letters and I just loved it.
3. I would love to sell an image.
4. I want to capture lightning. I have always loved images of things that are rarely seen or only seen for a split second.
5. I want to capture motion. A car driving by, the view of a highway from a bridge at night, Isabelle on one of those spinning things at a playground (I have no idea what they are called).
6. I am planning to do the 365 project in 2012 where you take at least one picture everyday all year.
7. I want to identify my style. I know now how I want my portfolio to look, but I am sure, like many things, you never know until you are doing it for a while.
8. Most importantly, I want to catch all of the important moments in Isabelle and our family's lives. I don't want to miss anything and have memories to go back to in the future. I know as well as anyone else that the best way to reminisce or remember a specific past moment is by a photo.

I feel inspired every day and this has given me a new outlook on the world around me. I can't wait to see what I discover along the way.

I will leave you with my favorite photo I have taken so far. Father and daughter doing what daddy loves the most. I will treasure this photo forever.            <3 LK

Chloe - 8 Years Old

I got to photograph this wonderful little girl whose mother I work with. She was not up for taking pictures at first, but after a while got the hang of it! I got some great shots of her and look forward to another shoot with her!

Around the Farm

Since buying my new camera, I have been roaming around our farm capturing the beauty it holds. I love this stuff! I hope you enjoy!

Life Behind the Lens

I have finally begun to do what I am meant to do. I have always said that my dream job is a photographer. I have always loved capturing memories and and I am so excited to capture more, better quality images. Of course I have a "9-5" job, but this is what I was meant to do and will hopefully be able to do only this one day. I have an amazing husband who supports everything I do and the most beautiful little girl in the whole wide world. They mean the world to me! Please follow me, comment, and enjoy.
